Yesterday we went to a going away party for two families in the Lagunas Cong. One of the couples, Frank and Beverly have been in Cuenca for 7 1/2 years and have just been assigned to move to Quito. The other family recently moved into the Quichua group.
Marianne, a sister in our hall, arranged for us to get a ride in a school bus (van). We met at 4 p.m. as planned but didn't leave until after 4:30 (Ecuadorian time). We picked up others along the way - I counted 21 of us all together, packed in like sardines. We finally arrived at around 5 p.m. The dancing started around 6 p.m. Ecuadorian people really love to dance and the music was fantastico! We finally ate at around 9 p.m. - rice, potatoes, and chicken, typical Ecuadorian food. Frank and Beverly gave us a ride home (took only 5 minutes) as they live in the building next to us.
Francesco and Beverly Jorge - missionaries in Ecuador for 27 years.
This couple and their two daughters moved into the Quichua group.
Some of the kids played soccer before the party - with a flat ball.
Some brothers played 3 man volleyball - with a soccer ball. The net is outrageously high and the men are short - makes for an interesting game, definitely no spiking, ha ha.
Young ones in Lagunas cong.
Supper served after 9 p.m.
