Hi everyone. Well yesterday was a highlight of our visit here in Ecuador. It began around 8 a.m. when we met up with Linda and Dave from Nova Scotia. Our guide and driver (Mario and Eduardo) took us to Cajas National Park, about 45 minutes from Cuenca. It was spectacular! We took almost 150 pictures so it is hard to decide which ones to post, plus very slow internet. Here are some pictures of our afternoon walk through the mountains, about a 3 1/2 hour walk. If you click on the pictures they should enlarge so you can see more details. Enjoy! We hope to post some more tomorrow. Buenos noches from Ecuador.
The highest point in the background is called the gorilla's back. Guides use it for a reference point when navigating.
We walked to the lake in the far background.
We walked through this "paper forest" in the afternoon, elevation 11,000 feet. Such variety in landscape and plant life!
We walked through spongy wetland like this.
This beautiful grass covers much of the Cajas.
These plants reminded us of coral.
An amazing variety of ground cover and flowers.
After a long day we had lunch/supper at this restaurant. Soup never tasted so good! We had fresh trout with fries and rice for the main dish.

Soooo beautiful, I wish I was there. It's all things I have never seen before. Almost like exploring the rain forest which is my dream. Crazy forest, loved those little lily pad flowery plants... it is all too spectacular. Looks like you had a fab day..right down to the food. A day to remember for sure.
Cute kids and nice pictures of the congregation party.

Wow! Amazing photos! thanks so much for sharing them with us! Love this blog thing...keeps us up on what you are doing and the sights you are enjoying!
Keep them coming.
Some of the trees, etc. look like the rain forest area near Hilo in Hawaii. Looks like it must be cooler where you are now...we noticed the jacket/sweaters and jeans...instead of shorts and lighter wear!
Love you much

Excellent shots. So awesome to discover new places(new to you). I am not envious, as that would be wrong.:), but sure wish I was there. Can't wait to see more pics. Hugs to all.
